ISO 50001 is the international standard for energy management. It structures an EnMS based on measuring usage, setting objectives, and continuously improving energy performance. Specifically, it provides you with a method to manage your consumption, sustainably reduce your bills, and lower your carbon footprint. In Morocco, it is particularly relevant for sites subject to energy efficiency obligations (law 47-09).

The process follows four steps: energy review (mapping of usage and consumption), construction of the management system (policy, objectives and energy performance indicators), deployment of action plans with performance monitoring, followed by a preliminary audit before the certification audit. Generally, expect 4 to 6 months, depending on the size of the site and the maturity of your energy data. The energy review starts in the first week, the system is built in weeks 2 to 6, deployment extends until week 12, and the audit occurs between the 4th and 6th month.
